I have flashed to that BIOS just 30 mins ago.

Since then I have run 30 loops of the crysis test. Now I need something else which doesn't require me to be at the pc.

What about the Ntune gpu stabability tes for 6 hours?

Collateral has a problem in COD4 simuilar to yours. He had it with his eVGA 780i board. It turned out that his SB was getting way to hot. What are your MCP temps? Basically the temps would get really hot, then the video would go all crazy. He RMAed his 9800GTX and board, but that didnt fix it. He ended up switching to the ASUS Maximus Formula --Ramapage bios-- (X38 chipset) and that problem was fixed.

But now he has a new one where his sound will glitch for a split second every once in a while...

The SB temp problem is common with eVGA 780i board. There is a known issue where the rubber pad that was designed to fit around the core of the SB chip, but cushion the resistors, gets pinched between the core and the heatsink.

I and many, many other people with 8800s have the same problem.

Solution?

Don't use a 8800.

I have the same problem, I think its actually Punkbuster related dude. Does your sound loop too or no?

Mine doesn't usually.

I'll start a lan non-PB server, and see if it crashes. However, even if it doesn't the first time that doesn't mean it's related to PB.

Edit: I set PB to "No" in options and started a lan server without PB. Crashed within less then a second, un-froze and froze again within a second, and again. By then I had luckily gotten to the "Do you want to Quit screen" and did before it froze again.

Yeah bud, I would defenitely suspect the video card.

Unless your right and there's a crazy chipset-driver problem.

That would suck

turn off riva if you are using it
Even without Riva or ATItool installed it still happens. It also happens when my card is exetremely underclocked. So it's not OC related.

I was told that 3dmark would be better as it uses both cards fully and I have previous crashed and locked up whilst using it.

I have just run it looping for 2 and a half hours without a problem. I am going to continue again for another 2 hours or so.

Do you think running ati tool artifact test or furmark would be better?

I was trying them today - with rivatuner open and neither of these programs uses both cards - unfortunately

I only can use 3dmark for both card testing atm [do not have anything else to try]
