AMD Multiplier...Formula?

Hi guys, i was thinking about this the other day

I'm able to identify every multiplier in the AMD Range, using a simple formula and not memory...

It sounds dodgy, but im sure a lot of you already have figured this out, i just want to share

My example will be the 2.3GHz X2 4400+

I know that the multiplier is 11.5

How?

Take the first 2 numbers off its speed, 23 - half it

Tada, thats the multiplier!

It really is that simple

A X2 5000+ runs @2600MHz

Its multiplier is 13

13 x 200 = 2600MHz

The formula is consistent because all AMD CPU's [In the X2 Range] have an FSB of 200MHz

Sorry if this is pretty common knowledge, just thought it would be helpful to some members

That's pretty common knowledge. When I want to overclock my processor, I always lower the multiplier, then start raising the FSB. When I get my FSB up to a respectable amount, I start raising my multiplier. If something goes wrong, I can always go back to 200Mhz.

My AM2 Board doesnt really go much over 250FSB =(

It works grand for that series of processors, but there are plenty of amd chips out there whose HT's are not 200mhz though by default.
