8800GS Amazing Benchies - Page 10

...wow lots of BIG pics..

..and you are basing your decisions off of Crysis testing...? Crysis is a poorly optimized game in my opinion, and a bad 'control' for testing purposes..especially since the results you got indicated your CPU to have a larger factor than the GPU. Were the test not performed with GPU performance testing in mind..?

True. I will admit that all I wanted was to see how EASY it was to OC the E8600, and afterwards, I did notice minimal increases in performance when opening applications. However, once I saw my cpu usage go above 90% during normal day to day activies (normal for me is having multiple browsers and applications and possible file transfers), with no visible performance increases when compared to my aging Q6600, I decided that I wasted my money and that the $269.99 "downgrade" wasn't the best economical decision on my part. The money could have been better spent is what I'm saying.

I would SLI my 8800 GS(s) but that would require a new MOBO and possibly a new PSU and I'm not ready to spend more money on a MOBO at this point. That is, unless I find a GREAT deal impossible to resist.

Just a taste of whats possible with a vmod and stock cooling...

..i have yet to bench with the GPU's at this speed..but can confirm that they do pass all 3D Marks just fine, with load temps staying below 72c.

Here is a shot of them folding.. 1min 10sec/ Frame ...at same clock speeds.

Sweet Jesus. 828, and max is 1100. lol
Look at those PPD points sweet.

Will be updating with some new benchies soon I hope [busy etc]..but have got my pair of GS's smashed with a set of swifty GPU blocks now..load temps at 1.3v are below 39c ..stability testing with core speeds >812mhz and shader speeds >2000mhz now..w/o issue.

..new shots with water cooling. These are maximum clocks speeds on core and shader for my current GPUv of 1.266v idle and 1.299v load. *Already beat my 3rd place WR submission on HWbot..but waiting for max clocks/max voltage before submitting..gotta take 2nd place at least.

Quick run at 3D 06' with absolutely no tuning of any kind = 14.5k ..

14.5K with only one GS?

can easily get another 500-600 points just by changing FSB.. ~460*8. Last time I posted my 3rd place Hwbot for the GS..settings were:

Quote:
Q6600 @ 459*8, 1.47vcore 2GB`s Crucial PC6400 @ 1100mhz, 5-5-5-14 EVGA 8800GS/SC, vmod`d: 815mhz core/ 2000mhz shader/ 1005mhz mem

I was running on a stripped OS for benching too.

...This run, I have not tuned RAM..nor was I using my bench HDD..so with core speed increased another ~35mhz and shader speeds increased another ~105mhz or so..I think I can break 15.1k ..I can still go much higher with GPUv as well... so these are by no means "final" clocks either.
