E2180 - 77*C Load Temps

Hi all,
This problem has been bugging me since I have had the processor. I had a Freezer 7 Pro on it at first. I loaded at above 75*C (don't know how high because OCCT was set to stop after 74*C) this was with the overclock in my sig - 3.2ghz at 1.425v. I also idled at around 53*C. Bear in mind these are the best temps I could get and I used AS5. I also tried an assortment of AS5 application methods - Line, grain of rice, blob, spread out with credit card. I used nearly half a tube of AS5 trying all these methods. Of which none gave any noticable difference.
So then I thought this Freezer 7 pro can't be up to it. So I managed to get my hands on a thermaltake big typhoon. My temps are absolutely identical to the Freezer 7 pro. I've tried several remounts, cleaned and buffed the heatsink with rubbing alcohol for ages so its nice and shiny. No change at all .

So heres the important bit -
-Is there anything else I can do? - Please don't suggest a remount, i have tried.
-Is it the processors fault.
-How much should I screw down the Big Typhoon?
-Should I just throw caution to the wind and live with a processor that loads around 80*C?

There are no scratches on either the processor or the big typhoon. I am aware of AS5 cure time but thats only a few degrees and even taking those off it would be really high.

This really is a problem I want to sort out because I know this chip is capable of 3.5ghz perfectly stable, the temps just get insanely high and a better heatsink doesn't seem to have done anything.

Please note: I have added 15*C to speedfan load temps to account for the TjMax 85*C debacle.

EDIT: Ambients are 21*C with good case airflow.

1. Can you lower vcore and hold the OC stable because lowering voltage will also lower the temps quite a bit?

2. Wouldn't have thought so, prolly just the OC/voltage.

3. I wouldn't like to say as I have a habbit of snapping things off just to make sure they're tight

4. No! Can you improve you cases airflow? by either Installing more fans or directing the airflow through the case better with the ones you have.

Thanks for the reply

1- No , I can only get to 2.4ghz on stock voltage. It takes alot of voltage to get past that, then I can go up to 3.2ghz. With just 1.48v I can get to 3.5ghz, so I've already backed it down
2- Suppose, but it seems weird how the BT made no improvement over the freezer 7
3- I do that too, I used a spanner and didn't want to go any further. Its very secure but I could tighten it more if I shut my eyes.
4- Putting an FM121 on it didn't make any difference. I could remove fan grills I suppose. I have fans everywhere I can, and if I put any more cfm i there I think my ears may start to bleed I might try strapping another 120mm fan somewhere (to the side or something - worth a try I suppose)

Appreciate your advice, +Repped

Any temp differences at all with the side off the case?

I cut out my rear case fan grills as there didn't seem to be much coming through it (I've not got a very expensive case mind) I was supprised at how much more air was pushed out after the grill was cut out though.

The AC7 is a good cooler mate, I had one for ages before I got my Xigmatek and even that only knocked a few extra degrees off compared to the AC7

PS.. Your +Rep must have got trapped in the works... I had 55 a few days ago

Actually I forgot . Thanks for reminding me. Its a couple of degrees cooler with the side off.

Have you tried directing a household type fan into your case CJ to see if it has any effect on your cpu temps? If it does you know it's likely that the cooling/airflow needs looking into.

I'll have to try and steal one off a mate. There are no fans in out house (other than PC fans) The FM121 is like a mains fan. Nice idea though.

My experience with spedfan is that it totally sucks, and probably should be like vers 1 I mean whats the point if you have to do math just give me the correct temps. I use HW monitor and im pretty happy with it, the newest version didnt work so well for me. These load temps are they load in like prime or load under normal use ?? I have an acfreezer 7 pro and my idle is usually around 30 or so, load can hit 60 though.

What if you put a lil pressure on the cooler maybe from poppinbg it off soo many times it isnt seating well. Doesnt make much sense for the typhoon unless it wasnt tight enough either

Try Everest for your temp readings and see if there's any difference...

I know a few people that use such fans when summer arrives because it can make quite a difference to the temps.

I notice an increase in case temps when my room fan is switched on (not directed inside case) as it disturbes the airflow inmy room, however the temps do plummet when the fan is directed into the case.

HWmonitor still gives high temps. All temps I stated are confirmed in several programs. These are load temps from OCCT stress test. Both coolers were tight down - there was no 'play' there. Thanks for the suggestions

Everest is the same
