E2180 - 77*C Load Temps - Page 4

Hrm, might be the chip Coffee. I have a 2160 (although I dont know the difference in the xx60 and the xx80, multi i think....anyway) under an AC Freezer 7 Pro myself. At 2.8ghz (at 2.9 now) and a 12hour orthos run my temps are only 34C load Thats stock voltage too.

So maybe just a bad chip?

I think the case has ruled out, you have tried it with the side panel off ya know. I have great airflow in my case so I know that helps. Can you post a pic of the case inside?

Figured I'd post my.02, at least it's someone else with a very similar setup, lol.

Okay, I snapped a pic of my case. I have 1 fan at the front as an intake (which I couldn't get a pic of)
I have attatched a pic of my PC, unfortunately my camera is made of fail, so its not that great. It doesn't make a huge difference if its in or out of my desk hole. I did have a FM121 on the Big Typhoon but that made me want to take my own life and only gave me a 1*C gain. As far as internal cabling goes its tidy, I can't stand the usual mess of wires inside a PC. I also have a modular PSU so that helps.

Welcome to the hot e2180 group, maybe us in the UK get all the dud e2180s from the USA, like mexicans and coca-cola. Thats how mine used to load too .

i think the new ones just cant handle it ..... yes they OC well ..but for how long

i hear ppl saying their temps are great on stock volts & mine were too even at nearly 1.5v for about 7 months
now its starting to die .... i believe after a while with ample voltage they just turn into ovens ...

i actually got a BSOD yesterday !!!!!!!! first one in about 6 months while playing COD4 ...the chip overheated & shut down

im gonna put it to stock for a while to see what temps i get ....but i predict they will be near enough the same...i think the damage is done

But for the price they are you can't complain - 3.5ghz from a 2.0ghz chip is too good to be true. I'll continue to run mine at this speed whatever .

Lapping did help quite a bit and it only cost me £4 and 2 hours of my life.

Even running it a 90*C it would probably still last until nehalem, these 65nm processors are tough. Just lap it, that should buy you a few degrees. No point buying anything new until nehalem IMO.

Tj. Max is 100*C, but I wouldn't want to run it 24/7 above 75*C.
