Soft Over Clocking Music Production System

Thread Starter
I use my custom built system for music production and since downgrading back to an intel core 2 duo and a striker extreme motherboard from a Q6600/P5K Motherboard I want to make the most out of what I have now.

Won't be able to upgrade my processor for a while. So I'm looking for info on the safest overclock for my intel core 2 duo 2.40Ghz processor.

Help will be really appreciated. I have been searching all over the net on how to do this and after reading a few posts in various forums on the web it looks like doing all this through BIOS will be the most sensible way. I was also advised to sign up here and see if I could get any more info.

Again help is appreciated.

Any Q6600 can do 3ghz with ease, some can even do it one stock voltage. Just bump up your FSB to 333.

I don't have the Q6600 anymore. The motherboard that was on killed all my WD harddrives, well maybe it did, maybe it didn't but to be on the safe side I started fresh with the 2.40Ghz core 2 duo processor and the striker extreme board.

Wondering how fast I can make this with out having to add coolers etc. I just want to do a soft overclock. Nothing extreme because I don't want to mess up the system.
