Zalman 9700 problem

Thread Starter
I hooked up my Zalman CPU cooler and it isn't working properly. When I turn on system the Zalman fan lights up but does not spin the fan blades. It tries but it acts like it doesn't have enough power or something. Any ideas?

Make sure you're inputting enough voltage to get the fan spinning. If you have the fan controller to the lowest setting, it likely won't start.

Try giving it a spin with your finger, I had that problem the other day and after that it hasn't been an issue.

how do i turn up the fan speed?
Make sure none of the heatsink fins are making contact with the fan blades.

If you have it connected to the Fanmate, you can turn it up from there. If not, then check if there's a way to turn it up from a fan controller (if any) or the mobo.

Ya, I had this problem straight out of the box. Had to carefully bend the fan forward a little to clear the fins.

fan isn't hitting the fins...i spun it with my finger and it spins now just really slowly...
Then it's most likely just connected to a fan controller that's spinning it slowly.

it didn't come with a controller
