Thermalgigh Ultra Extreme 120

would u guys recommend me getting this? is it worth the money? or should i just go with a ultra 120?

I would go for this -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2bvendetta%2b2
Bit cheaper, but the thermalright ultra 120 extreme is still the best cooler IMO.
EDIT: Should read better meh...I'm not sure theres too much difference between the 120 extreme and the TRUE.

Please take the time to fill out your system specifications under the User CP located at the top of the page... this will help us help you better down the line and as of right now, help us determine whether a TRUE would be good for your CPU or if it would be total overkill

The TRUE is debatably the best air cooler... it's only downside is that it requires higher CFM/pressure fans (120x38 w/ 80+CFM) to perform best due to it's dense fin structure... I would say that the IFX-14 is it's competitor as it performs similarly when using lower CFM (and lower dba) fans... this is achieved through having sparser fin structure than the TRUE, but having more surface area

Regardless, as I said before, we would need to know whether your computer even needs either of these beefy air coolers... you only really need these if you're cooling a 65nm quad core that's running higher voltages... Otherwise, the Tuniq Tower, OCZ Vendetta 2, or Xigmatek HDT-S1283 would more than suffice and be much cheaper... The TRU (non extreme - same design as extreme but w/ less heatpipes) performs on par with the previously listed coolers but is a decent bit more expensive...

I have it, got no problems with it! its pretty kick ass.
Only downside i can think of is the dust that gets in between the fins lol.

bumpppp....

If you want... I got a Q6600 to 3Ghz on a Arctic Freezer Pro on stock voltages with no problems. A TRUE should be able to hit the upper 3Ghz range, though a Zalman 9700 should be fine for 3.2-3.6Ghz.

I run my Q6600 at 3.6 easily on my TRUE [lapped] bench unstably at 3.96 [3dmark06 stable] and temps still acceptable for me

For 3.6ghz on a Q6600 I recommend a TRUE to stay under 60C, I don't think the TRU will be able to keep it too cool at those high clocks.

That's not prime stable - only stable enough to run 3dmark06
Also i have a 86cfm 38mm scythe Ultra Kaze on it, with a 110cfm slipstream for exhaust behind it.
