You need to be a little more specific. What do you mean you both can't play on the same server? Does it kick one of you off? Or will it not let you join?
Any error messages?

You may want to try changing the port that one of your account is using. Otherwise you will have two different people trying to play in the same server with the same exact IP and the same port, which I don't think is possible. I'm not sure, but I think the best way to switch the port being used is to go in steam and right click TF2 and go to properties, then under general go to "Set launch options" and type in "-port 27014" or some other port number. I think will solve your problem.

Probally need to set-up NAT in the router setup to allow the ports.

what's a NAT?

what i tried was to set a static IP to each computer, that's all i knew about networking

oh yeah, the router was an old netgear with wireless (though we were both wired) that probably need a firmware upgrade.

Peeps is right, you can't port forward the same port to 2 different computers at the same time. Changing the tf2 port will work.
