My monitor came with a dead pixel... I honestly don't notice it unless I'm actually looking for it. I've had this monitor for 2.5 years now.

Indeed, it depends on the manufacturer, retailer, and the size of monitor. I was referring to the ISO standards . (As I said, it was a guess at the time, I didn't work it out).

If you run this video for a while - it can fix dead pixels sometimes, otherwise RMA it.
http://itasor.com/pixelmurder.MP4
Download it and run it full screen for a while - note - don't watch it - major headache

I used to do all crazy thing with tft panels and stuff like that if it is a horizontal or vertical line all the way across the screen chances are the wide ribbons which feed the raw panel may be damaged, i have seen them go black , white red pink any color really. kinda wierd for something like that to happen on its own though. its a total manufacturer defect. probably damaged from the start and just now failed. look into warranty rma

If you have an apple store nearby take it in, couldn't hurt. If no store nearby go ahead and contact them in case it is a manufacturing defect they are aware of and may fix. Whats to loose?
