How-To Mod without a dremel/JigSaw

lol - This is MY definition of ghetto. (or SKILL/innovation for that matter ^_^)

Shizzle stuff - thats profound really, produced on a limited budget.

Frankly - my friends and I dont have the $$ some of the bleeding edge stuff that a lot of my fellow PC enthusiasts do.
Hence - such creations - I'm really proud of this.

This is my friend's PC (DR.NET)

Everything you see before you was accomplished with the following tools;

1.Sharpened flat point screw driver,
2.HAMMER
3.File

check them out

HE used the following materials;
The 4 fans you see (think they're 80mm)

4 old power supplys
(the shells' protection for the internal fan, was used for his Gril!)
&
(three power switch's were scrapped from them)

as well as wires

HE used the sharpened point of the flat point screw driver to hammer out the circular area that would be used for the fans, then used a file to refine it - i.e - smooth out the edges.

Then the screw holes were added (all this was drafted via a sketch to the opposite side of the side panel of course).

The three switches seen at the front of the case controll;
1.the UPPER 2 fans (which are exhaust, and run on the 12v line - to get that extra suction).
2.The lower 2 fans (which in the name of quietness run on the 5v line)
3.And the REAR fan of the case.

They can be turned on at choice, depending on what the rig is doing - you know, gaming, vs just browsing. Or - if the day is a hot one ^_^.

His CPU is clocked to 2.4GHZ (venice 939) - and with a stock cooler, never gets to 40c. (all air)

his 8600GT never touches 50.

his mobo never reaches 35!

He cut the side of his computer case with a sharpened flat-head, knocked the homemade punch-outs out with the hammer, and smoothed them down with a file? Nice.

bump - I seriously have to share this.

What I find profound is the LIMITED set of tools that he used to accomplish this.

THAT, is refined ghetto lol. (nice skill really).

who needs a dremmel!

he's going to do a 120MM vent for me ^_^

nice! lol - but the only thing I would add to that is.

try to get it more stable - some silicone on the legs of those sticks might make it more stable
(or finding some other way to mount them).

And Dr.net adds;
It would be GREAT if you could add a sort of.. funnel, enclosing the passage of air from your GPU to the exhaust - that would ensure the exhaust is only taking DIRECTLY from the CPU you know
(an elbow funnel sort of).

nice mod though! ^_^
