New Rig or New TV

Thread Starter
This may be in the wrong forum but I am in the middle of building new rig and I recently saw a good deal on 46" 1080p Sony and now I am conflicted with which to buy. I am not a pc gamer but I am a console gamer. My rig center piece would be a 26" (25.5) Samsung monitor which I could play my 360 on. I currently have a pretty good build (its not the one listed in profile, I have to update that) so I guess a new build could wait. On the other hand I have a 6-7 year 32" TV. I have been saving money for a few months or so for the rig I want to build so I have been kind of focussed till now. Have money for both but cant ,priorities. My girl has offered to help buy TV next year January but I rather purchase it myself (so I could claim it when need be). What would you do?

if you get a Sony 1080p tv then i might just shoot you. Sony don't make good TV's anymore. the best on the market are the new Samsung TV's. they have 1080p OUTPUT. Make sure that the TV has 1080p OUTPUT not just 1080p input

If you're "not a PC gamer", then why would buy an 8800GT?

Since you're a self-proclaimed console gamer, the choice of a nice TV or gaming PC would be pretty clear here.

EDIT: Unless you plan on getting into PC games also/instead.... which personally, I highly recommend.

Just cause I don't game on my pc doesn't mean I should over look buying a decent vid card. Also I spend more time on my pc doing everything else besides gaming on it. I also don't consider the new rig I want to build a "gaming pc"

It means buying a video card made for games would be pointless. That is first and foremost what the 8800GT is for. If you aren't going to game, there's no good reason to buy one.
