Which CPU should I get???? - Page 2

Yea but dont forget those are dual core, IF you want a 3.0 dual core then the 6000x2 is a really good choice as well.

So what is wrong with a dual core. I am not real smart on computers that is why I do not overclock. I just want a superfast 3.0Ghz CPU. I am also not wanting my little room to over heat.

the 5000+ BE runs cool with an aftermarket heatsink and you can easily get 3.0ghz with changing the multiplier to 15x without a voltage increase most of the time, I don't know too much about the windsor cores(6000+ 6400+) and their temps hopefully someone can enlighten us. But if money is not an issue for you then 6000+ or 6400+ would be ok it seems since it has all you're looking for.

Um nothign is wrong with a dualcore CPU. Dual core 6000x2 = 3.0x2 = 6.0GHz of processing power.

You Dont Plan To Put This Chip in you Sig Rig do You? If you do i have Sum Bad News. Socket 939 is Limited To the Athlon 4400 X2 which is probably pretty hard
to Even OC to 3.0Ghz, You Best Choice Would be a Server Chip Such as an Opteron 165,170 but you will have to Oc them.

Or You Can Find a AM2 Combo/Proccesor Deal At The Egg

Question though, if you are changing your motherboard and ram why not and intel chip?

don't get me wrong, I;m an old school amd guy. I still have an FX-57 sitting in my backup rig but the intel processors scale much better overclocking than the amd chips do at the same price point.

amd is successful in the low wattage and entry cpu but mid and high end is all intel.

no.

I don't know diddly squat about AMD processors yet I know enough to realize this is not true.

You don't multiply the number of cores by the clock speed to state what speed your CPU is running at. A 6000x2 (doing a quick google search) runs at 3.0ghz.

Correct, The 2 Cores work Together to Make 3.0GHz, So i Guess it can Be Said each Core Runs at 1.5 Ghz. Then Again i Could Be Wrong.... Just Trying to Help
