Symantec Client Security

Alright, well here is the problem.

I will have Symantec AV Client Security scan an entire computer. Otherwise known as, full scan.

It starts the scan like normal and then starts running.
It then gets to something called Thumbs.db:encrytable and then runs for about 30 seconds and says Scan Completed.
Scanning only 17851 files or something like that.

Now, I know that I have alot more than that.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any dependecies that Symantec needed or if anyone else has come across this problem and figured out how to fix it.
I know it has happened to me before and after awhile it fixed itself, not sure how though.

I need the help, thanks.

You'll have to find that dumb Thumbs.db, delete it and restart the scan. That file may be corrupted on the HDD.

If you know what directory that file is in, change the folder view settings off of displaying thumbnails or filmstrip.

You may need to see if the HDD needs a defrag as well.

So would be deleting all of the thumb database files a good idea?
Honestly, I don't see what they would be used for since they arn't in every folder.

I will probably just go ahead and that, and copy all of them and backup them up if they do cause a problem.

The thumb.db file is automatically created by windows, and deleteing it wont hurt anything, windows will just remake it. When you go into a folder using the thumbnail view setting (view-> thumnails) microsoft automatically scans teh files, makes thumbnails, and drops them into a little DB so that they can be instantly pulled up next time, as opposed to having to rescan the images next time you access that folder.

I just cringe when I see posts with "Symantec...Help me" ....

When are people going to learn that using their bloatware beyond a "Corporate Network" setting is asking for a corrupt system?
