Q9450 OC nightmare? - Page 12

So I have a Q9450 with a ASUS PN5-D montherboard with corsair xtreme memory 2GB and an Asetek Liquid CPU cooling system. Can anyone help me OC what I have? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have an EVGA 8800GTS 512MB video card OCd to 846/1993/1009, can I go higher or what is the preferred numbers I should be at? Thanks

what? I doubt your PSU is really struggling there. I've had more hooked up with a cheapy 500w antec and it did ok.

Awesome! You ought to look at those Koolaster water cooled PSU's.

just from my own experience there I can hit 3.6ghz on my e6600 at 1.5v on my x3350 I can hit that same 3.6ghz at 1.256v

as far as those of you having problems with the q9450 how sure are you it is a CPU problem and not a MB problem? mb plays a big role in how well these will clock.
Exactly.... 3.8Ghz on 1.288V..Believe me..it´s not you CPU...

So have you got any good idea's on help.. I don't wanna read all 5 pages. but basically it's not the CPU.. unless there's other problems thats making you think it's the CPU. people are hitting all sorts of great speeds with that thing.

Try maybe getting new RAM. even if you have to buy it. and return it if thats not the problem. Also is the RAM set to the recommended specs. and the recommended voltage. I'd try setting the ram to Manual and just leave it at default speed. but make sure it is getting the voltage the specs call for.

then also These 45nm chips aren't supposed to go over 1.3625 for more than for test runs. anything over that for 24/7 is a risk.. and that also applies to the fsbcore. also known as fsb/vtt voltage.. I've heard pushing more than 1.37 fsb/vtt to these they can have a early death. but have you tried turning that up in proportion to the vcore.? Like try adding a little more of the fsb/vtt. but unless your pushing over 3.9 Ghz I'd not go above 1.3v on the fsb/VTT

the vtt voltage is needed for thats whats helping the fsb push past 400fsb.. I'd try doing that if you have not already.
