Lol. Seriously, I used to teach English writing at a university here. You should see what most of the papers were like.

Baretsu: Congratulations!

I'm waiting for more results Bart!

Anyone else think we should start up the Q9450 OC club? I believe there are starting to be a few of us out there now...

Why not? I'll join it straight away!

No, I'm not dead and neither is my PC ... but I received my Aquastream XT Ultra today (though it was in my specs, I was actually still using my "old" Inovatek HPPS Plus pump) plus my 10mm chromed UV LED's as well ... so I've been a bit busy getting those in!

Nonetheless, I've been spending some time on OC'ing as well! Just pushed it up to 450 MHZ and I can push it further but Windows is becoming quite unstable if I do so ... As I can boot just into Windows up until a 493 FSB (!!!), I guess the time has come to start playing with all other parameters as well in order to keep it stable. But it is clear: I should still have some growing potential in this baby! For now, it's 450 MHz (http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=370863 ) ... Now I'm going to install the Aquastream software to be able to steer the pump as I want it to!

EDIT: I'm still convinced the memory is holding me back as 9 times out of 10 this is what the mobo LED tells me so ... I really wonder what this board would do with let's say 1.800 MHz RAM or so (or RAM with better timings or whatever!)

That's very impressive, keep pushing the crap out of it!

I can't wait to get my northbridge under water - I'm hoping I could lower/raise the voltages on it if it were just cooler. Thursday night I'm probably going to pull another all nighter and try some 500+ FSB's even if they aren't stable I want to see how high I can get this thing on this board. If it turns out that your past-nightmare/future-godsend board is the magic piece for this processor I'll sign up for one tomorrow!

Upload some pics of that system! Your avatar is looking pretty wicked, would love to see more.

At this point I'm stuck at a stable 460 FSB. I can get the FSB higher but that leads to crashes anywhere from within 5 to 20 minutes. Playing with the subsettings now to push it further ... My original goal however (3.6 GHz stable) is reached ... All I gain now is pure extra!

What kind of instability are you running into? If it's a BSOD write down the exception error it gives you and google it - it'll tell you whats causing it. If the screen just freezes it could just be an undervolted processor\\MCH.

it usually freezes, sometimes it BSOD's as well, but 95% of the time it fre'ezes either during startup or when just at the desktop ... pictures will follow ... just changed my complete airflow scheme by making the rads pull instead of push ... cold air comes from the ground now instead of blowing the hot air to the ground ... quiter but I'll have to test what it does for the temps ... hot air is now blown into the lower (fully separated) part of the case and being pulled out at the back ... as de HDD's are in the compartment as well, I wonder what it will do!

As promised, I just posted some pictures about this system ... you can find it here.

And yes ... starting to look as if 480 FSB is going to get stable as well!

Very nicely done, that is definetely a giant system. I've decided to do another system in an antec twelve hundred case using my 9450 and a whole bunch more water blocks. Tonight is COD4 night but most of tomorrow will be working to get past 500+ FSB. I've only posted/booted into windows once for a couple of seconds at a crack pot shot at 520FSB. One of those, "Well fine if you dont want to do 500 how bout 520!" pissed off moments and then it almost worked lol. Hasn't since, but who knows.

I'll be on friday hopefully posting successful results....or cussing and getting a few more grey hairs...

I believe this is a smart choice. You're now working with gravity, and I find gravity always wins; it's a good friend to have on your side.

Awesome pictures! Glad this system has worked out for you despite some of the idiosyncrasies of that motherboard. What's important is that you've learned a LOT and gained a lot of experience in the process. Sir, you are the winner.

Cheers,
Rob
