[GameSpy] The Day preview

"The past is a foreign country," wrote English writer Leslie Poles Hartley. "They do things differently there." Nowhere is that more true than in The Day, an upcoming action-oriented MMO being developed by Reloaded Studios, a Korean developer staffed by refugees from some of the country's largest online players, including Webzen, Phantagram and NCSoft. According to Jino Lee, The Day's lead producer, Reloaded's first project out of the gate aims to do more than create another cookie-cutter MMO that can survive in its home country: The Day is looking to conquer the whole world, past, present and future.

Lee describes The Day as an "action-oriented MMORPG" with a deliberate focus on PvP and Realm-vs.-Realm warfare. While he's quick to emphasize that every kind of MMO play will be supported in the game, including PvE, solo questing, raiding and crafting, the basic structure of the game is built around the conflict between the three main sides.

Holy smokes! Surely this isn't in game footage? That would be way to in-depth for an MMO. The CPU and GPU wouldn't be able to handle what these pictures are showing, would they?

Does look amazing though

An MMO running on cryengine2? Pretty interesting. I see at the end of the interview this snippet:
Quote:
When queried about using such a high-end graphics system for an MMO, Lee noted that The Day is currently scheduled for release in 2010 when, presumably, the average system will have caught up to the engine.
Not such a bad idea. If it was released now (ignoring the fact that they'd have to magically make it really quickly ) then they'd seriously limit their userbase by the system requirements.

I think it's from a cinematic. There is no way it would look like that...

I think it ca be, it's using cryengine 2 m8.... have you seen what that engine can do? I don't think crysis used the full potential of the engine...

Also if the game looks like this in 2010 for when it's scheulded we'll have to spen 3k€ in a rig just to not have low fps in the cities (don't forget it's a MMO)
