Can't Decide

Thread Starter
I had planned my build around 2 3850s, buying one now and buying one later after the 4850 comes out hoping the price of the 3850 drops more. Problem is Best Buy has got the visiontek 3870 on sale this week for 124.99. I want to crossfire but I can't afford two of them this week w/out pushing back buying the board for another week or two.

Now I can't decide if I should go with my plan of 2x3850s or if I should just go ahead and bite the bullet and get 2 of these visionteks today and just wait till next monday to buy the board and cpu.

Also how much of a pricedrop are we going to see on the 3850s and 3870s once the 4850s come out? if i could get two 3850s in my machine for under $200 I still think that's the way to go. Should I go ahead and gamble by hoping for a price drop?

I only play the NFS/GTA games so I doubt I am going to notice the difference b/t two 3850s or two 3870s. The only reason I want two cards is so that I can race on my 1080p plasma at 1920x1080. I will also be going to a thirty inch monitor by end of year for work so it would be nice to maybe game on it too but my main priority is being able to max out in 1920x1080.

You're not going to see much of a price drop, if any

If I were you, I'd get 2 of the 3870s. How much were you going to spend on the 3850s? Not how much were you hoping to spend, but how much are you realistically looking at?

I could do up to $300 if I have too. Just have to wait another week to order the CPU. Or I can get the CPU and one now and pick up #2 next week. Guess it really doesn't matter. Sapphire on newegg gives same price as BB after MIR minus shipping so as long as that is going till june 8th or something I can go either way it looks like. The original plan was to get one now and pick up #2 somewhere around june 8th.

I guess if I wanna really be tight about this $$ wise I could just pick up two tomorrow morning at BB. Saves me shipping and just wait a week on the CPU. I already bought most other stuff but I still got plenty of time on the 30 day return window if I need it. Just really not wanting to buy one sapphire and one visiontek, rather they both be the same.
