in comparing the bios with CPU-Z
what do u think i should do now?

tampered with it some more. got it to 2.62ghz. tryed going higher and it doesnt work.

So at 2.62 what are the settings in the bios?

Maybe you have to add a bit more voltage and vdimm

All the settings are the same as you gave me except the Multilpyer is at 10.5 and the Ref Clock is at 250

tryed going to 255 and it doesnt work. and i dont really feel like messing with the voltage without help. dont wanna mess anything up.

soo all settings should be

CPU multi 10.5x
Reference clock 250
NB freq. 7x
PCIe auto
HT link 1.4 ghz
RAM 3.3x
Voltages- Normal

Yap before playing with the voltages u should make sure that u have a very good after market cooler installed and there is plenty of airflow inside the case. Any way try this

Reference clock 246
CPU multi 11x
=2.7 ghz

or reference clock 250
cpu multi 11x
=2.75 ghz

Ok well i dont have acooler yet seeing i cant afford one. all i have is a huge heat sink lol. i have some decent air flow plus ican leave my case open if needed.

the freezer pro or some ****.

and i tryed 250 x 11 and it didnt work.

il try 246 x 11 when i get home.

Random Question, what is the best way to test the abilities of my over clocked processor? and... i also saw this one guy that went straight into overclocking and someone reccomended a program (not cpu-z) that he should get.

Whenever you OC a system you must do a stability test to check if in that config. ur system can handle any kind of load or not. Otherwise u may run into unexpected BSOD or restart. To do so you can use Prime95 or Orthos. Download the latest version of either of them to do a burn in test. But be careful that while doing the burn in test ur CPU doesn't run too hot. Keep an eye on the temps. While doing a burn in test if ur CPU reach ~60"C then it is time to put a good cooler.

Prime95 doesn't show temps. You have to use some other program like everest or coretemp whichever suits you.
