Keep in mind, 3dmark06 is not CPU reliant. The reason it affects the score so much for people with liquid nitrogen cooling and do test runs at 6+ GHz is because the speed of the CPU is extremely out of proportion with the GPU and has a much larger effect on the overall score. With a powerful enough GPU, the opposite could easily be true.

These results look a little optimistic, but damn, if they are true... ATI is in the gold, and I would be snapping up two 4870X2s
I don't agree with that.
go from a dual to a quad you get a huge gain.
overclock the cpu and you get a decent gain also.
I'm not talking 20-30points either you gain quite a bit on all the scores from cpu to even the shaders

would you say the same about FUD?

other then that though the 4's don't match up.

look at the number 4 under each score for the cpu SM2 and SM3. then look at the 4 where it says 3870, oops 4870. then compare that to the 4 under the CPU type.

they don't match at all.

nay....

vantage is more gpu dependent... lets see some vantage tests

I gain 1000 points just by going up .1 ghz with 06 but need .4 ghz just to gain 500 points in vantage.

I like how out of all people with a chance of that card would have a chance to bench with something better than a 4200+.. Really makes me sick
FAKE FAKE NOOBS

LOL that 3dmark06 is so fake! All they done was add the SM2, SM3, and CPU scores to get the final total of 18,297. Doesn't work like that fellas.

Not only does it not work like that a X2 4200 is a such a bottleneck it will never be possible for it to get remotly close to that.

They wouldnt even been able to get it with a phenom.. if this score was true with my cpu @ 4.4ghz like it normaly is when i bench I could get over 30k

i don't trust any bench marks yet until, someone who actually bought a 48XX(x2) card shows some legitimate pics, or Tom's Hardware benches all of the cards (like they always do) to see who is the king of the cards for this gen....
