8700GT vs. 8800GTX, how much will it gimp my gaming laptop?

well i have finally saved up about $1700 and have been looking at that Sager NP5793 for about a month now. I have also seen that it comes equipped with the 8700GT by default, and if i want to throw in the 8800GTX it will push it over the $2k mark. I was just wondering how much the 8700GT will gimp me in games as compared to the 8800GTX. I will not be running extremely graphic intensive games like Crysis, however i do want to run the latest games like Age of Conan, and my old favorites TF2, CS:S, and such with ease. I guess my biggest concern is will the 8700GT be able to run the newer games being released with DX10 without to many problems, or are all the new games leaning towards a must-have beast GPU like crysis requires.

EDIT: i am also not very knowledgable about the QUADRO FX1600 option for the GPU in the sager, it adds $200, how does that compare to the 8700?

A buddy of mine has the 8700m GT in his laptop and seems to run everything fine so far other than Crysis. I haven't seen AOC on it though but games like COD4/Turok/R6V2 run fine. Truthfully when it comes to laptops and their lack of upgradeability, I would go all the way, the GTX cards have had quite a shelf life and still going strong, I would go for the mobile GTX card, it will last longer than anything lesser, as far as a laptop's pricing goes, IMO worth the few hundred bones.

the thing about the gateway is its GTX is soldered on, i have just brought a Sager NP9262 for $2,100 what a deal it was great performance with a 8800m GTX im maxing out everything (except crysis) and i still need to upgrade the RAM, CPU and maybe add another 8800m GTX

i would really wait for the 8800m GTX you wont be disappointed or get the Sager with the 87GT and then upgrade to the 8800m GTX later

are there any addons for the sager i have to buy in order to have the option to upgrade video cards?

I am really leaning towards the FX, as I wont be as avid as a gamer as I am now since i am going to college, however i still want to have some good equipment for the games that I will be playing to kill some time. My only fear is that nobody in my family has had good luck with gateway PCs / laptops :S

how is the FX edition as far as reliability? any testimonies?
