"Safe" CPU Temps?

Thread Starter
Just wondering what a safe CPU temp should be for an E6400 with a Tuniq Tower 120.

Last night I was adjusting the timings on my ram, so I ran orthos blend and my CPU temps were peaking at 72 degrees. The Temp throttling is at 85 degrees. Not sure if i should be worried or not while running orthos.

That's pretty hot. What's your vcore?

i would not want to push that cpu above 72c for a 24/7 overclock

Vcore under load is 1.394 Volts

I think the reason it is getting so hot was because I had the side panel on, I have 3 video cards running and the PSU I got exhausts right into the Tuniq Tower.

Probably going to have to mod the top of my case to vent the PSU away from the CPU. On a side note when I woke up today it was idling at 37 degrees, and usually in games it maxes at about 54 degrees.

The max case temperature for the e6400 is around 60c.

bver: If you've got good airflow in your case, it's better to have the side panel ON, rather than off.
