post #11 of 40
X-box 360 is developed to be in sync with PC's though, why would they get rid of another market when they can use it.

I don't think that either one is going to fail. I just believe that the entire industry is going to have to shift it's business models. Take Nintendo. They are making a killing by using established, cheap and out of date hardware, but packaged into a new way to experience the game, which also uses cheap tech. Simply put I think that is how consoles are going to have to change in order to stay alive because this generation was the first that had development costs that the analysts have stated are greater than can be recovered. Nintendo saved the home video game system with the NES back in the mid 80's, and now they are going to do it again 20 years later.

I also think that basic rendering techniques are going to have to be changed for all games, not just PC or console. In other words Intel is right about ray-tracing. It's the only way to drop the costs of animating, which is the majority of a game development budget these days.

As with all shifts, the establishment is going to be slow to move, the consumer quick to demand.

I suggest you go look up the definition of Toy. Your computer is a toy simply because you find joy in it. Your TV is a toy because you fancy it, your pr0n collection is a definition of toy aswell.

Its bad enough that we have 'outsiders' aka 'non-gamers' look at the gaming industry in a condescending way and people like you provide much insight as to why that is. We can't even respect our brethren gamers in a way that we should, no wonder people like Jack Trenton, Roger Ebert and at a time, Hillary Clinton are prejudice against gamers in general.

Ignoring the definition of toy, theres no way you can exclude the PC from your assertions since you enjoy a lot of the games console gamers do or are you a hypocrite? That somehow games like COD4, ASC, DMC4, Gears of War, Oblivion etc, all shared between PC and consoles, somehow stop becoming "Toy" software just because its on what you consider a non-toy;

Was this written by some *******'s WIFE?

I think so, she must hate games or something....

Another useless article stating something that is unforseeable to happen

On a side note, I actually think Macs are better suited as a gaming platform. There are far more different PC setups than with Macs. With PC games, the game developer has to make sure a wide variety of hardware is supported. With Macs, the hardware is much more standard.

Just my 2 cents. And yes, I know Macs suck for gaming at the moment.
