Will this work? evga and xfx?

Thread Starter
I have an evga 8800gt SUPERCLOCKED and am looking to buy an xfx 8800gt. As far as I can tell the xfx card is vanilla (stock 8800gt speeds, most likely 600mhz) while my evga is clocked up to 650 from factory. Will these two cards SLI, and if not, is there anything I can do to MAKE them sli? Im pretty sure that the xfx will clock up to 650 also, so even if I have to flash it to an evga gt-sc I dont care, as long as I can make these cards talk!

is it possible, or will it just work out of the box?

Yep, but the 650mhz card will only perform as fast as the slower card, so it'll go at 600mhz.
The brand and clock speeds don't matter.
It will work, both cards will run at the slowest cards speed (the xfx's stock 600).
I'm not sure how overclocking works with sli though, maybe someone with more experience with it can answer that.

yes they work in SLI, but the lower clock of the to cards will be used, say if you used the xfx card at stock clocks , then the evga card would be lowered to 600Mhz also, so keep the clocks same.

Great 4 out of 4 say yes which is perfect! Next question, if I go into rivatuner and try to overclock, it should overclock them BOTH right? And the xfx should handle 675 core?

+rep for the answers, thx

You should o/c them both, or else they will just revert to stock if the xfx is still stock. Not all gpu's have a certain o/c that they can attain, but the xfx probably do 675 core.

8800GTs can handle 700Mhz and even more. i think there should be a card1|card2 system, but cant tell for sure.

xfx is horrible, go with something else...

i had to go through three of the 680i boards before i switched to ASUS

very disappointing...

that being said, if they can't make something as critical as a motherboard, i figure their video cards aren't too great either...unfortunately i own an xfx 7900gs GPU...what a let down
