its not just an issue with the way facebook tracks user activity, but an issue with the fact that there's no way to opt out of being tracked. if your a member of facebook, your tracked. like it or not. and unless I'm mistaken, that IS illegal unless they have some form of agreement [prolly in the TOS that nobody reads] that the user must accept before signing up.

either way, I agree with the whole "too much common sense for the average user" statement.

Alright- It's not about other people being able to see your information, what a lot of you are saying. It is, in contrast, advertising firms like Beacon accessing and feeding back to Facebook your user activity and what you do off-site (this was fixed last year) in order to deliver advertisements and other such things which are targeted ads. As a user, I agree with the article, especially in the realm of opting out of Beacon's advertising offers.
