G0? quick q

Thread Starter
If I wanted to buy a Q6600 w/ the G0 stepping, how do I know if that's what I'm getting if I buy it from newegg? Am I just supposed to assume that all they have now are the new ones? Or do I buy it from tank guys?
Newegg only carries G0 now.

No way they're giving you something else than G0. Lots of people have bought Q66's from the egg recently, and most of them got G0, according to what I read from here.

thx, just wanted to make sure, and since the E8400 and the Q6600 are so close in price, wouldnt it be best to get the quad?
well i depends on what you do. If you like to game you can oc the e8400 farther than the q6600 but of course its only dual core. I would personally go with the quad, but if all your looking for is performance in games then the e8400 would prolly be better.

Not if you read the comments by Fernman on the Newegg Review 05/28/08 he just received a B3.

So no guarantees, you don't know where they will dredge the processors from, but by and large most folks are getting a G0.

so its a 99% chance of G0 from newegg, or +$40 100% sure G0 from tank guys
post #8 of 14
Id get the Q6600 over the E8400 right now. The Q wil do 3.4 easily on the right mobo.

The E was doing 4.0 or better but lately its more like 3.8.... So 3.4 on 4 cores or 3.8 on two... Realy not a hard decision...

The other option is Ebay I see not many folks like Ebay. If you are into wanting to know the Batch# you can ask them to tell you the Batch# if they do not already have a photo of one in their advertisement.
But otherwise bide your time and you can pick up a Retail for $200 or less.
