This one is by far, the best. (And oldest. )

i have been rendering physics like this for a long time in the crytek editor. rly a great program to play with. i did actually render vehicle explosions in one of my vids. My gpu ram limits me from reaching 5000 vehicles though.

Can't wait till that is possible in real time though....
I don't think, with that many explosions, that it will be possible for 5-7 years to record in 30FPS with maxed quality (say 1900x1200 4x AA Very High).

And that was ****ing amazing, the 3000 barrel explosion was nothing on this, because here you actually saw it all blow up.

looking more closely i don't actually see 5000 vehicles blowing up in a single scene... unless he was refering to the entire clip.

I remember reading that they do it extremely slow and put it into a video. So it isnt' actually running that fast. Same with the 3000 barrel thing.

if anyones interested follow this tutorial

http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/s...d.php?t=459146

basically the codes allow ur computer to sink its fps with the physics. i can usually render these in wide range of fps, depending on the number of collisions between objects. can be as low as 8fps down to about 2spf.

rendering more objects also takes a bit of extra hardware.
for more objects to be able to display before overloading the screen u need a lot of vram (Ex. 512mb may equal around 5000 crates... 1024mb might be 10,000 crates... etc)
you can also render longer scenes depending on the amount of ram u have. I'm using 4gbs and allows me to render a scene longer.
