IMO there is never a reason to run the cpu fan at anything less than 100% noise be damned

Although, being a fan of silent PCs myself, I would check your temps and see whether you can happily cut the fan speed by 50%. Its worth a try! It will save your ears and headaches!

First you should see what temp difference you are getting between 50-100 percent with the fans on. If the drop is 5degrees I'm not so sure that I would be willing to sacrafice my hearing relative silence for a decrease that is not significant to give you any increased ocs' or other performance.

On the other hand if the temp drop is 15-25degrees...then it could warrant using the 100 setting...

This brings up a non-conventional fan array that I put in my case for when I want to do bench tests i.e. 3Dmark06, etc. Here it is:http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...EMBLY/-/1.html

Needless to say i'm sure this is much louder...also it is something I have used to force air to the two cards I have...also using pc probe I have had the nb,sb,mb as well as gpu temps drop by 20-35degrees ....but this sound is something that's not tolerable for more than an hour with me...

In fact I would not even use it with a switch for benching as it's just too loud~!!!

Sorry that I might be asking a nooby question.... When people talk about temperature in OCN, are they referring Celcius or Farenheit?

Hahaha...Yes celsius...though if you say fahrenheit...most would know what you mean. So what's the difference between temps at the 50percent and 100 rpm fan settings.
