Why is my system running so hot?

Thread Starter
I have everything at stock speeds/volts with a zalman 9700 CPU fan in an antec 900 case and it runs at 37*C. My house is 83*F would that effect my system temps that much?

Is that a load or idle temp? Have you tried a reseat? what are you using to check the temp?

Thats idle temps, and I'm using core temp .99 and also realtemp. You mean reseat the heatsink?

Well I'm running a zalman 9500 on a 9850 phenom and I run the same as you in a 900. So I have know idea what watts intels chips run but other then you do have a bigger heat sink I think your doing ok.

i have a zalman 9700, and my q6600 is idling at 38c.

That idle seems ok, im @ 18 degree C now, and idle is 33.
You can try a reseat of the heatsink, but the zalman is better with load that low idle.
37 is your body temperature, so I wouldn't say it's running "so hot". In fact, it's actually around average.

alright thanks guys...I moved some wires around and took off one of my sides to the case to increase air flow and it runs at 34*c now

If your load temps for that speed are under 50c, then nothing is wrong.

37c on idle with a warm enviorment is normal.
