Need help!! please :)

Hi all, I'm new to Overclock, I saw someone who had the same problem and it got solved here so I figured I would post mine..

I just built a PC a couple days ago and it runs fine, the bios recognizes everything and its all running at decent temps. (Although I did have a processor that was running at around 90 degrees cel but I replaced it shortly (a couple hours) after with a new CPU and non-stock heatsink/fan.

The problem I am having is that whenever I am playing a game (Age of Conan or Call of Duty 4) my computer seems to shut off completely (As if the plug was pulled). I can turn it on right afterwards and start it back up but it has been happening quite frequently (Within 5 mins to 2 hours of gameplay). I have checked all my temps and the MB runs around 30-34 while playing games, CPU at around 39-41 and video card about 55-59 (All in Celsius)

I have also made sure that everything is connected properly and ran a couple of stress tests through Nvidia that seemed fine. I really am at a loss and don't know what else to try.

O.K. I think that while you may seem to be having stable temps in bios...that does not mean those are the same temps that were in place while gaming. Also, I suggest that you first install pc probe as this will help you to real-time view of temps.

Also, you have a 9800gtx...that a very hot running card...what's more your Q6600 only makes it run faster with its 4cores...while your gpu temp and cpu temp may not be the cause of your pc shut-downs...other things such as northbridge & southbridge temps play into the equation.

Lastly there's also the power settings in windows...

Additionally, I have a bluetooth keyboard anytime it's batteries are low and I use it from a distance like the next room it shuts my computer down...

There are almost an unlimited amount of things that may cause shut downs...the thing I and others here can do is help you narrow down the possibles until you find the cause.

Well, I have PC probe installed and same with nTune, those are where my temps comp from.

northbridge & southbridge temps play into the equation - Where can i find these out?

Windows power settings are set you never shut off.

Firstly go into your profile here on this site and enter all of your information into your signature and computer profile so that we can all see your system.

Also, check out this link: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=162085

...it's going to be rather more difficult to help you until you update your profile and computer signature.
