That is what I am thinking. Both OCed if there is no difference in gaming then why not go quad and when the programs are build for quad processors I'm ready to roll, then I can later worry about upgrading it.

I will eventually crossfire the 4870's or a 4870 with a 4870X2 which would be most important for gaming anyway.

I don't do much video editing or anything like that but I also don't know how much I would be, I don't own a DVD burner now but I am going to buy one for the new rig so when reading your post I thought what if I am going to be doing a lot of media, the Quad would benefit me a lot more.

Plus when I game I also game I do game with other programs open sometimes.

As for the CPU...... Your money, your choice.
Can you recommend another DFI board if possible, I do like DFI a lot but I need one with Intel and CrossFire support, I am ATI to the end and after reading reviews and specs on the new 4000 series I am sold. =P

X38-T2R or X48-T2R. I believe somebody's selling one in the FS section.

Are you sure about any of your info?

Striker II is a 780i/790i board, which means it's for SLI, clearly. For CF, it's best to have X38 or X48, in which the DFI boards do better than Asus boards.

Here's one: http://www.overclock.net/sale/337554...t-x48-t2r.html

Cheaper alternative: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136045

The cheaper DK is just as good. The X48-T2R in the FS section is even a better deal if you want X48.

Yeah the X48 is 20 dollars more...no big deal but what is the main difference?

Looks like one is 1066/1333 FSB the other is 1333/1600 FSB

There really isn't much difference. After all the X48 is only a better batch of X38. Tiny bit better in overclocking and that's pretty much it.
