Well, many people have said that the "fake" ones make a clicking sound. I'll also compare it to the Antec Tri-speed fans that I have. All I'm looking for at the moment is something quiet than my tri-speeds. The Antec ones are quiet on the low setting, but far from quiet on high.

upon further investigation, the "fake" YLs are the "open" cornered version:

(this image taken from the jab-tech)

and the "real" YLs have the "closed" corners:

(You can tell they are closed as you can see through the "tube" and it is walled all the way through. This image taken from Petra's Tech Shop)

So it looks like i'm gonna buy a set of the DS12H from petra's now since this whole "fake" thing with YLs. The Orange bladed/Black housing ones seem to be unaffected by the place of purchase though, as the store in question (jab-tech) is where i bought my original fans and are closed cornered.

Then here's the funny thing. If you take a look on the hardwarecooling.com site, the Yate Loons are listed as having closed corners. Guess I'll have to wait and find out whether or not this is the case. I'll let you guys know if it's fake or not.

The odd thing is, the fins on the hardwarecooling Yate Loons look like the fake Yate Loons, but it looks like they have closed corners. Eh, guess I'll just wait till I get mine.

They have a feature of the fan listed as "Closed corners" so I'm guessing they know that there are fakes out there. Either they know the difference and they are selling the real thing or else they know the difference and they just listed that to make people think they're the real thing. Either I'm going to buy one, what the hell
