Upgrading to 4GB, just pop them in?

Thread Starter
Stupid question of the day:

I'm getting another set of 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix in the mail today. Do I just pop them in and Vista x64 will automatically recognize all 4GB? Do I need to up the voltage at all or anything?

TIA.

Might want to revert back to stock settings first, if you have an OC on, then just pop them in.

If you have any boot issues, you may have to nudge your memory voltage a bit.
Once again...

Aye, and with Ballistix, I would make sure the voltage is set to 2.2v right off the bat. You may have to bump it to 2.25v at some point, but your mobo may default to 2.1v.

The thing is right now I have the nicer double-sided ones and the new ones are single-sided (97432 batch). I heard some bad things about OCing this batch...

Do I adjust the voltage before I put the new set in? Or after all 4GB are in there?

I've never adjusted the voltage before, I'm assuming it's pretty straightforward?

Yupp, it is

Just like bumping your CPU Vcore

You mat have to press CTRL + F1 in your BIOS mainpage to unhide the RAM options if you can't find them, although they are usually with the CPU stuffs
