Need card advice

Thread Starter
Hey guys so after playing crysis I now realize that my video card is kind of out dated now so its time to upgrade. I have about 300 to spend but i am lost as far as what to get. I was thinking either 2x SLi 8800gt's for like 150 each but dont know if it would be better to just get 1 more expensive card like a 9600 or better 8800s. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated, and if you can give me specific links that would be even more so. Thanks

I think I would go for the 8800GTS 512mb. You should have a nice amount of money left over too . Also can you fill out your system specs in the User CP so we know what you have

I got my card for cheap and it is amazingly fast, so an 8800gts would be a good option that's under 300 dollars.

Also, Iconoclast, I am so happy to see you have the hooked on monkey phonics as your avatar!!! Hahahaha.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING YET!!!! Wait until the new series comes out, Overclock is going to be flooded with used 8800s, you should be able to find great deals. Just hold on a little longer.

Performance Comparsion

GT200 series will be out of your price range anyway.

Thanks for all the advice thus far. How would you rank the level of importance on each aspect of a card. I know DDR3 and high ram but like the core clock, memory clock, shader clock, memory bandwith, stream processors, and fill rate. What do i need to look for most importantly.

shader clocks, core clocks and mem interface are the main things.

also, it depends on the core, g92, or g80.

my suggestion would be to pick yourself up two 9600gt cards and run em in sli. these scale much better than the 8800gt series in sli.
