Need Laptop Information

So long story short, my buddy puked on my laptop.

Now, the laptop was on a couch and becuase its like 8lbs it made a small indent into the couch. The couch is also leather, so it held the water right under the laptop.

From what i seen, the only two things that were effected were the memory and hard drive since they are on the bottom of the laptop. (HP DV6000 SE)

So, i have a few questions. I am going to attempt to fix it myself by replacing the ram and the hard drive.

The hard drive that was installed was a 1.5 sata hd. Can i install a 3.0 sata hd? Or do i need to stick with 1.5 sata?

Also, if i install vista x64 on the new hard drive, can i install 2 x 2 gb and run 4 gigs on this laptop? *it has 2 512 sticks in now*

When i tested it 1 week after the problem, the motherboard would post, but bios would not read ram or hdd.

Any and all suggestions would be cool, and answers to my questions! THX OCN LAPTOP GODS!

no need to bump as it's only been an hour. I would check with the manufacturer of the board in the laptop. It may not be ABLE to support 4GB. it may only go up to 2. You'll have to ask. As for the hdd, I'm not sure.

I would stick to 1.5GB SATA but if you try the 3.0GB and be able to return if it works by all means go for it. RAM i would say go with 2GB's cause for sure your MoBo will support it but might not support 4GB's... Sorry I can't be of more help.
