Need good advice before I start cutting !!!

I've been wanting to figure out how to get my 2 80mm AC PWM fans in place of my 60mm Vantecs ever since finding out that the Zalman needs good uninterupted crossflow. Today I got an amazing deal on a used dremel with TONS of extras for $40 at a pawn shop. I've got a pretty good idea what to do, but have a few questions, and want to just get some feedback from some of you modding madmen. I'm very impressed with what I've seen in the logs and know there is alot of talent here.

I've provided pics so you can see what im talking about.

Is it neccessary to be able to secure the bottom half of the fans to the case, or are are the top screws likely to make them sturdy enough?

Thanks in advance for the help, and once I start I'll post a work log so you may see the progress and results.

Pic 1 - Empty Case with fans installed.
Pic 2 - Rear panel with target fans to show size.
Pic 3 - Angular view with old fans to show depth issue.
Pic 4 - Back panel without grill showing pencil possible cuts.
Pic 5 - Angle showing lip on back panel.

you might want to put a single 120mm back there instead
either way it should work but hopefully the unsecured parts of the fan dont rattle. as long as they are tight it shouldnt be too much of a problem. its hard to really see whats going on without having it in front of me.

Agreed. Two 80mm are louder than 1 120mm, and push less air.

Also for cutting with a dremel, just secure the case to something, like a table. The rivets should hole the case together fine.

I started the log. I put pics up on the 120mm fan/HDB bracket. I think I rewired the front panel right . .

I think the combination of these 80mms and the 2 60mm in empty PCI slots ( I hope there's room ) will be enough exhaust. 120mm would hang over the rear I/O panel in that location. These fans are extremely quiet anyway, a bit less flow, but I don't plan on running at max OC anyway.

I'll post on the log from now on as to not dual post on the same issues.
