E2180 OC w/P5E Micro

The subject about overclocking this chip has probably been beat up quite a bit so I apologize but i couldn't find the answers i'm looking for when searching. Here's the situation, built the Lanbox thats spec'd on my sig, overclocked as follows:

-On stock voltage ~1.15v it can easily hit 2.6GHZ (267x10), 2.8GHZ (280x10) required quite a voltage increase to about 1.35v and 3.0GHZ requires 1.5v for stability. Anything over 2.8 i need to drop multi to 8. I can boot 3.1 GHZ (388x8) with 1.55v but won't be stable under load. @ 3.1GHZ temps hover around 72C under load which doesn't seem too terribly high. Case airflow is surprisingly good for a micro case, ambient temp never exceeding 41C.

I can't achieve over 3.0GHZ stable so I was curious if its just its FSB wall or if there are other settings i can adjust in the BIOS in a certain combination to achieve higher clocks, I'm reading 3.2-3.6 GHZ for many folks. I only adjusted cpu volts, RAM voltage, disabled spread spectrum, locked PCI clock, etc most all else is still on AUTO. I've tried upping NB, FSB voltage, etc a little at a time in different combos and no dice. RAM speed never exceeds 938 and I've reduced it further and even loosened timings, still no go. Anyone happen to have this CPU with this mobo and have a good working combo or any advice? Could the RAM/PSU be holding it back? Thanks in advance for your help

I think your at your max. From what i hear the newer E2*** chips dont overclock like the old ones. Your temps are also really high. This chip is rated at 73c and I dont like anything above 65c

Thanks for your input Mr. Stroker. That's what I was afraid of. I didn't want to believe it to be true, that the CPU was at its max This E2180 has been such a sweet CPU for so cheap. Sux too cuz i just ordered a better CPU cooler and some variable speed case fans too. Oh well, a 1GHZ overclock is pretty decent for a $70 CPU
