Hello guys.. I am a total newbie here and registered cause this seems like a good place to begin. Im looking to overclock my CPU, but am a total noob when it comes to overclocking. I have found several "tutorials" online, where people have overclocked the same cpu but when I try the same settings(or as similar as I could, since none so far has used the same MB as I am) on my computer, it fails to boot up. So I was looking for some serious hints and tips on how to get a modest overclock (Im not looking to get the absolute max out of the cpu, its more important that the system is stable) Anyways, heres my specs.. ANY help would be appreciated.

MSI X48 Platinum
Corsair TW3X4G1333C9DHX 4GB DDR3 1333 mHz Ram
Intel Q9300 Core 2 Quad 45nm @2.50gHz
XFX GeForce 8800GTX 768Mb Ram

Now, from what Ive read, I should be able to get a stable freq. of ~3gHz (Ive read about people clocking a stable 3.5gHz, but I dunno..)from this CPU? Im using an aircooler at the moment, but am looking into watercooling options (Suggestions about this would also be great, looking to cool cpu and vga at least, preferrably as much as possible)

Again, thanks for any and all help.

Sorry if Im asking stupid questions, like I said, I am a total noob when it comes to clocking, but still want to get as much as possible out of my brand new setup.
