Waterblocks

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
Is it best to have the pump sucking the water through the waterblock? or pushing it into it?
I'm being silly and messing with this car radiator idea ive seen on google.

i have a couple of old aquarium pumps, onle 100g/ph and one 60g/ph, but im not sure what effect the restriction of the waterblock would have on it.

I figure i connect the pump after the waterblock so it sucks water through the block from the bottom on a bmw 325i rad i have (has built in reservoir top-up bit) and shoves it back into the top.
My computer room backs onto my scullery, so im planning to drill a pair of holes through the brickwork for pipes and mount the rad in the scullery with a big car fan i nicked off a land rover in the scrappy attached to it perm on.

I know im silly, but think it'd be worth it? the tower112cu i have now is pretty loud with 3 90mm fans on.

res-> pump -> whatever

That way the pump won't ever get air.

For the sake of the argument, I don't think it matters in a real life scale. The overall restriction is the main factor and seeing that the flow rate is quite high it really negates all order placement in the loop.

Some blocks want to be right after the pump if you can do it. The TDX is a prime example.
