Feel like microsoft is ripping me off.

here's a chain of events

>December 15th 2006: Xbox Live Account Purchased (1 year gold/12 Months)
>July 3rd 2007: Xbox 360 Hard drive, and accessories stolen from secondary bag while travelling.
>December 15th 2007: Xbox Live account automatic renewal (1 year gold/12 months)
>April 12th 2008: Bought new hard drive and accessories for Xbox 360. Got home, called xbox, asked to re-activated account. Told me to pay for renewal dated December 15th 2007 in order to buy a new year (12 month subscription) dated April 12th 2008. Was told i would receive a refund for the renewal of December 15th 2007 due to not having used the account.
>Today/June 2nd 2008: Receive mastercard bill. 2 Charges of 67.79$ but no refunds. (59.99 + taxes, canadian, ontario.) Called xbox to find out where my refund is. Conveniently, Xbox Live account dated December 15th 2007 was sent to collections on April 3rd 2008. (9 days before i called for a new account???) Cannot receive refund.

All technicalities put aside, Xbox Live account from December 15th 2007 til December 15th 2008 ***AND*** April 12th 2008 til April 12th 2009.

So 59.99$ over 12 months is approx. 4.99$ but from April 12th 2008 til December 15th 2008, my cost is 4.99$ x2 coming in at 9.98/month.

On top of my 50$ Internet per month, and modem rental. That's 60$ per month for the next 8 months to play online. And come on Overclock.net It's a good thing i love this site, because i would cancel my internet all together. Hope you all enjoy this moment of me being completely ticked off at microsoft. Good think i haven't had the RROD happen to me. Thanks for your time guys.

Dude,

You have my sympathies.

I've had quite a bit of trouble with Micro$haft myself.

For 4 years I had problems with XBL. It has been little over a year since having a xbox. It was fun using it but man, their billing department is horrible. When I had only one tag, I would be charged three times for tags I had canceled a long time ago...

Good luck tho. Best thing to do is like scream at them at this point...

isn't it funny how easy it is to set up an account with someone to start giving them money, but when it comes time to change or cancel, it becomes so difficult? hmmmm....

That seems rediculous. Maybe seek some advice from the citizens advice bureau (or whatever its called in the USA). I'm sure they are exploiting you there.

not my favorite company to work with. Their customer support lacks greatly for business products too. Or that could just be my own personal experience

I did try emailing BG... I got a response which basicly said "we're a bunch of morons that answer questions we don't know answers to, we get paid minimum wage. If you do have a good idea for a product, we are sorry, we'd rather let apple have it."

Tell your credit card company that you were charged twice for one purchase (which, if I read it correctly, is what's going on, yes?) and they should forgive your account and take it up with XBL--it's worked for me in the past when a merchant has been uncooperative in issuing a refund.

I was gonna suggest the same thing, CC chargeback.
