Q9450 vs Q6700 - Page 2

Noob alert here --> read below with extreme caution

I've had Q6600 now and you'll probably laugh, I have never overclocked it, LOL, never had the need for doing this. I was cooling it with the Intel Box Cooler

I have an oportunity to get a nice cash for my current setup and I plan to buy Asus P5E3 Premium board and now can't decide between q6700 and q9450 processor.

I would also try to overclock the processor, no matter which one I choose to 3,2 - 3,4 ghz.

Having that in mind, which processor would you guys recommend.

I have been contemplating this also [But with an XX350, server grade Q9450]

Apparently, there is only a 5% advantage, at best with a 45nm CPU over its 65mn counterpart

However it will have these advantages...

45nm, lower heat
45nm, lower power consumption
More cache [12MB...What a great number]
Slightly faster clock for clock than a Q6700

A 3.2GHz Q9450 is the same as a 3.36GHz Q6700

Your choice at the end of the day =)
