[VR-Zone] Radeon HD 4850 (RV770PRO) Tested - Page 3

i believe the card is real, but those tests are kind of bogus....

Sorry to be Mr. Pessimism, but it took Ati almost 2 years to come out with a single gpu solution that can compare to the 8800 GTX...

I just hope this is the spark they need to make enough money to really invest in making another x1950xtx class card.

I don't see them getting back into the "one card to rule them all" market anytime soon. I think they're fine taking a mid-range card and turning that into a dual chip card to compete at the high end.

8800GTX is crap though. 8800GTS/GT is a much better buy, along with the 3870.

Basically, why pay for a GTX when you can get SLI'ed 8800s, or Xfired 3870's.

Look at the benchies. The 8800GTX is really isnt what i would call crap compared to the 2900 series lol.. The 8800GTX isnt beaten by open world performance in games like oblivion and crysis.

Nope. The 4870 will have only GDDR5 while the 4850 can be made with either GDDR3 or GDDR5.

You call a GTX/Ultra crap when it has held the crown for best single gpu card for almost 2 years? That's not my definition of crap.

I heard the 4850 will be GDDR3 and the 4870 will come out with GDDR3 but then be upgraded to GDDR5. Can anyone confirm this?

It is still one of the best cards money can buy "single card that is"

And I just want to add in that the 3870X2 is about on par with an Ultra. What an accomplishment.
