Fanboyism at its best eh
How am I being a fanboy? I did not state a single lie. It is true that it has taken almost 2 years for a single gpu solution from Ati to defeat the GTX/Ultra. And yes I do take price into consideratin, which is the reason I will be buying a GTX or a 4850/4870. I cannot afford the GTX 260/280, but the truth is that they will hold the single gpu market crown for a while. I am not bashing AMD/ATi in any way, nor am I praising nvidia. What I do hope for is for the 4 series to help get them enough cash to invest more in R&D and be more able to compete with nvidia on a single gpu level.

I really don't understand the obsession with graphic card companies making so many cards single slot now. Double slot is obviously a better option for efficient cooling.

I'm pretty sure you'd be hard pressed to find a case that didn't have enough slots at the back to accommodate even an SLI set up of dual slot cards.

In Crossfire dual-slot can smother cards by cutting off their air flow. Additionally allot of people don't like having their other cards 2 slots down having a massive heat source taking up all the space above them.

ATI has no reference designs of a 1GB GDDR5 RV770xt, however it is not discouraging it's partners not to make them. The 4850 will debut with GDDR3, so will the 4870, a few weeks later a GDDR5 version of the HD4870 will be released; it will be a 512MB on a 256bit interface. No 1GB cards have been publicaly announced at this time.

So no GDDR5 4850?

The 4850 is the mid-range/low card of ATI. It's slower than the 70 and uses the more available GDDR3. Why would they pair a slow core with insanely fast memory? It screams bottle neck.
Will the 4850 be faster then a 3870? I sold my 3870 today and I have some cashed saved up for a new card but im having a hard time deciding on which one to get.

It depends on what the final core clock will be. It should outperform the HD3870 by at least 15% just by looking at the hardware difference.
