[vr-zone] GTX 280 - 25W on idle, 147W on 3dMark06

From the files of CJ.

So according to this slide GTX 280 would consume 25W on idle, which is same as 9600 GT and 20W less than 9800 GTX..pretty good job for this big chip. And 147W for 3dMark06-consumption isn't bad at all considering that 8800 GTX's number is like only 15W smaller.

Now I want to see GTX 260's numbers!

For some reason I doubt that. Why would it include an 8 pin connector if it pulls less than an 8800 GTX?

just for extra headroom i guess. if i'm not mistaken, 6-pin = 75w, so 2x 6-pin would be cutting it pretty close. i don't know exactly how this stuff figures out so that's just a guess on my part.

Yes but don't forget the 75w that a pci-e slot supplies.

EDIT: Wheels, G92 8800 GT TDP is actually around 110-120w.

I'm guessing because of the massive amounts it draws under full load.

Probably so that it would receive adequate power at greater clocks, for us, and for companies that like to give their cards slight factory overclocks.
