I would get the Opty 180. It may be a little pricey for an older CPU. However if you were going to go for an Intel or AM2 then it will sure as hell cost you more than £80. I have an Opty 180 and I love it.

Nice! BTW you do not need a extra cooler for the Opteron series of dual cores unless you really want to pump up the volts. The stock opteron heatsinks are copper. I'm still using my stock heatsink/fan and my opteron 170 is running at 2.81GHz on stock volts and it doesn't ever go over 53C which is well in the safe range. Opteron's tend not to like voltage as much either. (some rare steppings like volts). Congratulations though thats not a bad deal at all, thats nearly $140 which is less than what they would go for here brand new.

I'm running a ThermalTake Big Typhoon on my x2 4400+ and it keeps it running relatively cool. I've taken the IHS off the chip (thanks mister joe!) and it runs F@H 24/7. Temps run from 44-50C at full load. Thing's been running F@H nonstop since May 4.

Whatever cooler you get, make sure you lap it. It made a huge difference -- dropped temps significantly!

Good luck.

i don't do volt mods...just the FSB oc...lol

it was not a retail pack i got...
it was just the OEM i got cause i heard that the stock one was not that good for the 180

anyways...as i am a cheap skate can anyone recommend a decent cooler thing for it?
or can i just use my Retail cooler i got with my AMD 64 3700?
I am guessing no...BUT it does keep my current CPU which is clocked at 2700ish at 35 degrees unloaded....

ps - make sure i lap it? - what does that mean?!
