Ok so I got a HUGE hankerin to go back and play some of those games on the old systems. So I get my keys, open my closet and rummage for about 10 minutes until I pull out my box of old systems. Ah my Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System and SNES. How I missed you. I hook it up and fire up some of the best games I've ever played on these consoles. So This my thread tribute to them. Feel free to post but there are a few rules.

1. Titles must not have a recently named title (EX: Mortal Kombat/Megaman/Zelda/Final Fantasy)
2. This isn't a bash thread, no need to say Genesis pwns NES or SNES.
3. Post what game it is, why you like it, what the game was about and the console (or OS) it was for.

I'll go first

Genesis - Spider Man: Maximum Carnage.
Toby McGuire's got nothing on this. Beat the living crap out of bad guys in this wonderful fighting game. I loved this on from the day I first got it and it was always fun to fire it up and just relax beating some bad guy's brains out.

Genesis - Streets of Rage series: Another great fighting game. Take control of gang owned streets as you retake the city and defeat the crime boss. I loved this one because it was great fun for 2 players.

NES - Battletoads: Adventure / Fighting game. Play as a toad on your way to save your buddy. OH MAN! I can't tell you how much fun this game was/is. My friend and I take time out of a LAN to hook up our controllers to the NES, gather around the TV and beat the hell out of enemies/eachother in this game. This is still such a great game.

NES - Warriors of Might and Magic series - One of my first experiences with pachinco and an adventure game. Well done game which I still enjoy.

NES - Overlord - Star based RTS control the galaxy or be defeated by your opponent. This is still fun and they even made a DOS version of the game that is a bit more played out. Fun game all around and a definate must.

DOS/Windows 3.1 - Quest for Glory series - Adventure titles where you travel through lands saving them. OMG I love this series to this day. This was one of the first games where I found that if you actually play the game in order, you can have your character move through all the titles. You save your stats and you can import characters into the game.

DOS/Windows 95 - Gabriel Knight series - Oh man I remember playing this first one. I loved it to death and still find DOS emulators for this game alone. I actually have a windows 98 SE partition for this single title I enjoy it so much. Another classic point and click adventure game.

DOS/Windows 98 - Kings Quest Series - Again, another Sierra adventure title. Another one I love.

These are just some of my favorite games from the days of old....

Commodore C64

Bionic commando - Such a cool game, so hard too. The best platform games on the commodore and amiga.

Fiendish Freddies Big top o' fun - Had to be one of the best and funniest multiplayer games I ever played.

Sega Megadrive

Sonic 2 - Best platform game of that generation I think. (Until you finished it that is)
I know they've brought out new sonic games but I think of the megadrive generation of sonics to be a completely different thing.

Sketchin' - It was so thrilling to do all the stunts and kick people of the back of cars. Better than road rash by far.

Steet's of rage series and golden axe - Some of the best games for the system. Was a lot of fun completing it with your friends.

Populous - It was so cool playing god for a while.

NES

Double dragon - It was the first side scroll beat 'em up I ever played. Blew me away.

Duck hunt - This was great, I guess just for the gimic of being able to use the gun. Never see anything like that before I played this.

Playstation

Dino Crisis series - It had such a great feel to it, even though I had played resident evil before this I still preferred it. Voice acting (like in all these games) was pretty bad sadly.

Windows 95

Blade runner - This has to be (in my own opinion) the best point and clicker ever. It just oozed atmosphere. I was a big fan of the film and the game just had me addicted from the beginning. I still play it from start to finish every year or so.

Genesis - Never had one, but VectorMan looked cool when I saw it at a Toys 'R Us display.

NES - Super Mario 3 FTW

SNES - Doom Troopers

DOS/Windows 3.1 - Wing Commander or X-Wing

DOS/Windows 95 - C&C : Tiberium Dawn

DOS/Windows 98 - Total Annihilation and Asheron's Call

A few I can think of....

Contra for the NES - still a fun game and has the most recognizable cheat code ever.

Top Gun for the NES - very tough game, especially the landings on the carriers. I think I may have only beat the game 3 times out of all the hours I put in it.

Altered Beast for Sega

Golden Eye for N64 - still one of the best FPS out there even if the graphics seem dated now.

Mega Man 3 (NES) - LOVED playing this game as a kid. After this I was hooked on the Mega Man series. Too bad it's not as good now as what it used to be.

Godzilla: Monster of Monsters (NES) - I was a Godzilla freak as a kid, so this game totally fed my addictions.

Tecmo Bowl (NES) - Hands down the greatest football game to EVER be released.

Balloon Fight - NES
