asus vs xfx 790i Ultra? - Page 4

ermmm im running a 750i ftw and it aint that hot same based design... heat aint that much of a problem or else we wouldn't be able to oc high...?
I think he may be referring to the fact that the older 680i boards were little easy bake ovens around the nb even at stock.

The 780i was an improvement (and by association the 750i) and the 790i ultra is even better.

Yeah but its still the same 1 pc unit that is poorly made and dosent really pass the heat very well. It's not a horrible build but takes so much money and time to fix. There really isnt much you can do with the north bridge outside of watercooling it.

Ive heard good things about the 750i but havent really looked into cooling it or how it manages heat.

Hi Moozzy, I noticed you computer profile...

Hmm, I like the OCZ flex series...the new flex II does seem to increase cooling effect by placing blocks on both sides of the memory card. However one of the limiting factors is that there are two slots that are taken up with the increased space required for this.

At the present DDR3 is only being offered with 2GB modules for the flex series. Seems like this Flex II for DDR3 will be alot of money to spend for only 2GB kits.

When the 4GB kits are available I would go for it...I have 2GB of Flex DDR3 now...I would like the new series design however at 4GB kit.

the 790i is not even close to being as hot a board as the 780i (which is a rehashed 680i chipset).

XFX (or eVGA as stated before).

Have had only problems with my last 2 Asus boards. I switched to XFX and I've never been happier. Not a single blue screen since I updated to the P04 BIOS. Only downside of XFX is they release the (same) BIOS updates a bit later then eVGA.
