I cant remember the last time i played a game that was so well made. so polished. there are absolutely no glitches, and everything runs so smoothly even though there are a thousand processes going on everywhere. All the little cinematics, the technological illustrations, the acting, the AI. Its just amazing and it puts almost every game I can think of to shame (bar the odd few that rank along side it). I cant believe I let money get in the way of buying this game on release. Its fantastic. And although i had to spend an hour or so catching up and remembering what has happened leading up to MGS4 in the story its just one of those games that is worth double its price tag. Great gameplay and great experience. Im only on the second act!!

I never played the other but gametrailer's metal gear retrospective helped me out. I didnt find one glitch, and the one or two framerate spikes i got happened during big events and still had at least 30 fps min at the peak of the drop. Compare that to many games out there today. Also the motorcycle chase level was so cool. (thats not a spoiler).

if you want to skip to MGS4, wikepedia will help you out

The metal gear solid series is basically the tale of the big boss and his three cloned sons (solidus, solid, liquid) and MGS3 is the tale of big boss himself. It is a gripping story. Maybe at some points its a little too detailed for its own good but if you put it all down to basics you can keep hold of it by looking past the endless hours of talking in each game

yeah, i had Dillard13 and OmegaNemesis help me out big time with the story. i decided to play through them myself though, i can wait

i got Metal Gear Solid on my PSP now anyways (PSone version) so i can play through that while on the move.

then i'll jump onto PS2 and play Sons of Liberty.

i gave MGS3 a go while waiting for MGS1 to download, er i mean magically appear on my PSP in a totally legal fashion. couldnt get into MGS3..put me off at first. might skip it all together.
