DFI X48-T2R or EVGA 790i?

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
Im really torn between the

EVGA 132-CK-NF79-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI DDR3 ATX --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813188025

or

LANPARTY UT X48-T2R LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136049

If YOU were slapping a Q6600 (G0) or Q6700 on one of them and wanting to OC 24/7 (on air cooling) would one of these boards stand out for any certain reason? I can't really decide which one I want.
I know in the long run I want SLI, and maybe a QX#### when the price drops.

heeeeeeeeeelp!

Thanks

If you want to run SLI then you can't use an X48.

Lets not forget for a start that one is DDR2 (DFI) and one is DDR3 (790i).

Personally I would go with a DFI. The vast overclocking options are amazing and well... it looks sexy

If you want SLI, the choice is obvious: the EVGA 790i. It is pretty good at overclocking quads, and it has DDR3 if you can afford it. The Lanparty would be good if you are really into squeezing out all the performance you can. The BIOS is EXTENSIVE, and I am not exaggerating!

790i run's hot.The motherboard HS is all one pc and hard to replace.Id go with the x48 for OCing specialy if your not gonna WC.

+1

But, I'm over my friends chucking their nVidia builds at me saying, "FIX THIS PILE OF . . .. TRASH." The 790i clocks pretty damn well and allows you to access SLI tech but it isn't the most stable board created. I am lazy. I like to tinker. I like to tinker and the not get my hands dirty for a month. The 790i may need some 'maintenance' every month.
