Oh...well...alright.

crysis brought a ton of gameplay elements to the table that hadn't really been seen before. destructible vegetation/buildings, the suit, open environments, etc.

If it really sold 3 million on a single platform, that's pretty good. While most here don't like it, multi-platform games are the future. It's simple too expensive to make a game and then just releasing it on a single platform. Some of the multi-platform games I've played is not too bad. Hopefully they will port Crysis to Xbox360 and PS3 so they can make some money, otherwise PC gaming might really die.

What cave thing?

My PC cost me £600 ($1200) and it runs it on high which is playable. However some places I had to turn it to medium

Good for Crysis and Crytek. Crysis is a good game...and it doesn't take a $5000 computer to run it right. (Although I suspect the game would have been better optimized if EA hadn't been rushing it out the door.) And I still say that the graphics are mindblowing...especially with the Luxus Silentium config installed.

And I agree with QuickS, not all pc components are outdated after 6 months. I expect my Q6600-based pc to be running new game titles for years to come...with the help of a (very occasional) GPU upgrade.

See Redfaction, STALKER, and HL2. All three of those games featured what you just said Crysis "introduced".
